Our first visit was to Bergen-Belsen, a POW and Concentration Camp. This was a very depressing sight and a place of remembrance for all of the lives lost.
70 000 people died here.
Anne Frank and her sister Margot among them.
We took time for reflection of the injustice that took place here and reflected on the injustice that still takes place today. This quote from Anita Lasker-Wallfisch made us consider the importance of acceptance and that there is no place for prejudice or persecution:
"No one was born with a label around his neck saying first class human being or second class human being. We, the human beings, have invented those labels"
Imagine a world of peace where human dignity for all was upheld...
Our students are enriched through this tour as it highlights the importance of education to ensure acceptance and understanding.
